Funeral Expenses for Rick Peterson

On Saturday, October 24th, 2020, Richard "Rick" Lee Peterson unexpectedly passed away in his home. This was, of course, not only devastating for those who loved and knew him as the silly, talented, hard-working man he was, but his death also delivered an unexpected financial blow with lost income and funeral expenses as he was always happy and proud to be the sole provider to his family. 


Rick, the father, brother, uncle, and grandpa, is survived by the love of his life, Dawn McCormick, two amazing grown children: Aaron McCormick and Kristi Murrell (nee Peterson), two grandchildren, his parents, Winston and Jeannie Peterson, sister, Donna Kenney (nee Peterson), brother Kevin Peterson, and brother Brian Peterson.

Rick was a creative by nature. Whether by writing songs or stories, teaching himself how to play guitar, his famous wood-working and taxidermy fashioning, funny facial expressions, or simply providing loud belly laughs with anyone who came around him, he was a maker through and through. 

When he wasn't running a saw or making folks laugh, Rick loved to hunt, fish, and listen to music--especially rock, like Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Staind, Kid Rock, Metallica, The Ramones, etc. Some dads are out here wearing New Balance shoes and listening to talk radio--not this one. He was cool to the core.

He cared deeply for nature and all creatures. His Sicilian roots endured his love for conversation, family, wine, and delicious food.  He was just about as unique and authentic as they come.



We're asking for donations to help with the immense funeral costs and for his loved ones who depended on him to help stay afloat during this tumultuous time. Even if you only have $1--it all helps. Rick loved to provide for his family and it would be his wish to know they can be taken care of right now. 

Funeral services will be incredibly limited due to COVID-19, but the memorial service for Rick will be Saturday, Oct. 31 at Merkle Funeral Home starting at 10AM.
