Funeral Expenses for Resendez Family

One of Thai Fresh employees' dad, Thomas C. Resendez, was infected with COVID-19 in May 2020. He was admitted to the hospital on May 7th when he was having difficulty breathing. He was moved to the ICU on May 9th and was put on a ventilator on May 12th. Although his condition was stable, his body did not respond well after 6 days on the ventilator. The damage on the lung was so severe andThomas lost his battle with the pandemic and passed away on Monday May 18th at 6:30 pm at the age of 70. 

Thomas is survived by his children, Natalie Rose Rodriguez and her husband Gustavo, and his son Javier Thomas Resendez,  his grandchildren Joseph  Angel Resendez,  Gustavo Ignacio Rodriguez and Sandra Josefina Rodriguez.

Thomas was born and raised in East Austin near 9th street around Lady of Gaudalupe Church. Tom was a storyteller. His favorite stories were from his childhood especially about skating with his siblings and tales of his school days at Palm Elementary and Austin High. No one could tell a spooky story as well as Tom. He retired from the University after 30 years of service as a Senior Mail Clerk.

He loved to laugh, make silly faces and have fun. He was a camper and fisher.

Tom was resilient, nothing stopped him. He would find ways to overcome any challenge and would adapt. In his later life, Tom rode the bus for transportation. It was not uncommon to see him downtown and traveling all over Austin. Tom was truly one of a kind. He will be missed by all.
