Hello, my name is Matthew Nalett, I met my partner Fred when I first moved to Chicago back in 2003 and we got married in Canada on May 6th, 2005. On May 17th, 2023 I found my partner had passed away in bed next to me at 6:30 am. I called Emergency Services and after they came they said we are keeping the body with you and to call a funeral home to come collect the body. (not like it was traumatic as it is) but to leave a deceased person with you I felt was a bit uncalled for.

This whole week has been pretty chaotic and random spells of crying and hating the world since he was my world. Dealing with phone calls, and everything else.

I drive Uber and I have not worked since last week. Way to much stuff to try to figure out with having him cremated and also dealing with some financial issues. The issue I also had was since we got married in Canada it's going to take over 3-4 weeks for a copy of the marriage certificate so I can finalize the death certificate and also cremation. Also, have to deal with who he has accounts and somehow get them closed.

Now from what I gather since he is retired I get his benefits as well but also that is another adventure with Social Security Administration office and bringing the death certificate.

Also, I do not have a lump sum of money we always just paid bills and that was it, he did not have life insurance and the WILL was made out but it was never signed. So another reason waiting on the marriage certificates to arrive in the mail. I am not requesting a lot of funds this will help take care of the funeral home and also as well a couple of months of rent on the 3-bedroom house we have since I am never going to move. If you can help that would be great.
