My mom, Melissa Pierre has been battling ovarian cancer for 11 years. She has went into remission a handful of times, just for it to rear it’s ugly head and show back up again. We only recently found out (around November 2020) how bad it’s actually gotten this time . It had spread to numerous areas of the body. It has been an uphill battle ever since then. I brought her to see a specialist and we were going to try three more rounds of intensive chemo treatments in a last ditch effortto try and combat it before “giving up”. We nevermade it to those treatments. On Saturday, February 27th she was brought by ambulance to North Oaks hospital for “shortness of breath”. When she arrived at the ER, she went into distress and the drs told us she had no more than one hour tolive. She lived past that hour and into the evening, and they said she would definitely pass by the next morning. Next morning, I brought her homeon hospice but they predicted that she would not make it more than a few days...a week at the most. Fast forward almost 7 weeks later, she’s still alive but deteriorating quick. I have been her sole caretaker, have had to drop everything including my job to be by her side. This past week she has struggled with severe terminal agitation. I could not keep her comfortable at home so we are now at a hospice hospital in Baton Rouge. I personally do not believe she has more than a few days left with us here on earth so I have started planning her services (something I’ve avoided for aslong as I could). She did not have life insurance so I, being her oldest child am responsible for coming up with the money. Like I said, I dropped everything to be by her side so I have been out of work. I do have 2,000 saved but her service will cost $6,637. I am that person who does not ask for help, I am prideful at a fault. But I am not sure of what else to do in my situation and with that being said, anything helps....whether it’s a few dollars or a prayer.
