Funeral Expenses for Herbert Sutton

Dr. Herbert Sutton   was a trauma surgeon who passed away on 3/22/2018 from complications relating to an accident he sustained 5 years yearlier.  We have been friends since the mid '80s when we were in the General Surgery Residency program at  Lincoln Hospital in the South Bronx.  From there he complete his ROTC obligation to the US Army working as a trauma surgeon at Ft. Stewart, Ga  and continuing in the reserves at Martin Specialty Clinic in Martin, TN while also working at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital .  In 2013, Herb suffered a fall that left him a quadraplegic.  His active life as a surgeon ended and the long road to rehabilitation began.  Although he made progress, Herb had another setback in 2014 requiring lengthy cervical spine surgery and being in a Halo for 2 years.  Always a hard worker, Herb rallied to make significant progress, but still wheelchair bound and requiring assistance. These last 5 years have been a huge financial burden for his family.  He leaves behind a wife and six children including a 7 year old special needs son.  The funds collected will help his widow give her beloved a fitting funeral.
