Funeral Costs for Shelby Roberson Gravett

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of Chattanooga’s Shelby Roberson Gravett’s sudden passing at the age of 55.
When I first moved to Chattanooga in 2016 to set up Payday Report’s HQ, Shelby and her husband Lon welcomed me as a Northerner in the South with a warmth that I hadn’t known previously.
I had first gotten to know Shelby’s husband, Lon, a former Volkswagen worker, during the lead-up to the first union Election at Volkswagen in 2013. It was there that I felt powerful bonds of solidarity with Lon and Shelby.
Shelby was constantly helping out and spending her days helping me organize my house. I saw their family once or two times a week, and it was inevitable that we became good friends. Shelby was always there to drop off a plate of food and provide advice on all matters from cooking to dating to family relations.
She was good, sweet people. Someone who cared immensely about her children and grandchildren.
It saddens me deeply that Shelby died so suddenly at the age of 55.
Even more upsetting, both Shelby and her husband, who are disabled and unable to work, don’t have life insurance. Now the family finds itself scrambling to find the money to have a proper funeral in Chattanooga.
So, if folks could pass the hat and donate to the funeral fund for Shelby, it would be very much appreciated by me and the Gravett family. The family says funeral costs are likely to run several thousand dollars at a minimum and every little bit helps.
Anything right now helps as the family deals with their terrible loss. Shelby was a good person and I hope her memory is always a blessing.
