Support Friends of Farmworkers

***FUNDRAISER UPDATE: Slocum House is now Friends of Farmworkers***
On November 20th, 2018, Slocum House officially transferred ownership to Friends of Farmworkers, LLC. The cost of the house came out to a total of $32,000. We are so grateful to all those who have previously donated for start-up costs for the house. These funds are being used for many of the vital renovations to be completed in the house, as well as going toward monthly utility and insurance costs. Now we are asking that community members come together to help us raise the money for the purchase of the house itself. If 300 people pledge to donate $100 each, the house will be paid for. However we know that not everyone can contribute this amount of money, so we ask that you get creative and team up with other community members to pledge a donation. Of course, any amount, big or small, donated to this page is greatly appreciated. Please help us continue to provide emergency housing for unemployed farmworkers by keeping this space running. We as a community must come together to support the immigrant community! If you would like to donate through check or cash, checks can be made out to Friends of Farmworkers and sent or dropped off to Friends of Dorothy, 212 Wayne St., Syracuse, NY 13203, or at the Workers' Center of Central New York at 2013 E. Genesee St., Syracuse, NY 132010.

Hello friends and allies,

After a year and a half of hard fought advocacy for immigrant families, a deal has finally been reached with Andrew Lunetta of A Tiny Home for Good to buy Slocum House. Organizers from the Workers Center of CNY together with Michael and Nick from Friends of Dorothy House, and an army of allies, were able to arrange purchase of Slocum House for $30,000.

Now we need to fund the project.

First a new name! Slocum House will become part of a community living project called Friends of Farmworkers.

There is a lot of work to be done! We need to raise $10,000 by June 30 to pay for utilities, insurance, maintenance and repairs, childproofing, and an integrated fire system.

With your help, Friends of Farmworkers will provide temporary housing for immigrant farmworkers, such as injured workers who need a safe, reliable place to stay in their time of need. Please join us in our goal of helping to maintain this essential space.

All levels of donations are welcome. Cash or check are also accepted and can be dropped off at the Workers Center of Central New York, 2013 E. Genesee St., Syracuse, NY 13210. If you are unable to donate at this time, keep an eye out for upcoming volunteer opportunities, and please share this donation page with all of your social networks!

Thank you for showing up for the immigrant community.
