On Wednesday, February 25, 2015, K-9 Angels Rescue's Intake Coordinator came to her rescue. Channel 2 news just happened to be at the shelter at the time to do a news story on her. Libby was immediately taken to Memorial Veterinary Clinic to get started on pain medication and to have her x-rays taken. The x-rays showed that she was literally "broken to pieces". She had a femur broken in two places and severely broken hips. :(
The following day, February 26, 2015, she was seen by a specialist to see if she had any damaged organs and to see if it would even be possible to put her back together. Fortunately, her ultrasound showed great news! Libby didn't have any leaks, tears, or crushed organs--her spleen, kidneys, liver, bladder, and colon were all intact! That allowed us to move forward with no fear of internal bleeding or septic toxicity.
Libby will soon undergo extensive surgery that is estimated to cost between $6,000-7,000. Please consider donating whatever you can (no amount is too small) to help with her surgery and other medical bills.
Despite this terrifying experience and horrific pain she just endured, Libby is already showing that she is very sweet. Once she has recovered, she will be available for adoption through our program. Please follow our Facebook page for updates on Libby.
