Mental Health Center in Bonao, Dominican Republic

All mental health access are currently in the Capital or surrounding areas of the Capital, which individuals from these villages in the rural areas do not have access to. Individuals have no means of transportation, or they simply cannot afford it (if you look at a map of the Dominican Republic of the locations of mental health services, you will be shocked to see that more than half of the island does not have a single mental health center or clinic) or it is not shown. Also, none of these mental health services specialize or focus on Domestic Violence, Sexual/Emotional Abuse, or most of them lack trauma informed services. 

The center focuses on providing resources, holistic wellness, individual therapy, group therapy, psycho education and workshops for survivors of trauma/abuse in Bonao, Dominican Republic. I want these services to be based on income or insurance, and provide financial aid for those who cannot afford services at all. I want it to be affordable to individuals of Bonao and surrounding villages/towns. 

I became passionate about entering the mental health field for other women like me. I am currently a Clinical Mental Health Counselor. Opening one center is a step toward starting many more in the rural and poorer areas in the Dominican Republic that focus on mental health as a whole. These funds will help with,

-Rent
-Utilities
-Supplies (art supplies, office supplies, and wellness supplies such as therapeutic toys, books (in spanish) etc)
-Funds for wellness retreats for clients
-Financial aid for those individuals who cannot afford services
