Funds to cover time out of work

Two weeks ago (Tuesday, February 27th) my daughter Valissa injured her right leg while participating in an adult  Kickball game (Yes that is a real thing in Gainesville). Since everyone assumed that the injury occurred from kicking a large rubber ball, the doctors in both the ER that evening and the Orthopedist the next day weren't overly concerned. Despite Valissa's protestations about the pain, she was not scheduled for an MRI until Friday evening (4 days after the injury). That MRI was unsuccessful because she was unable to keep her leg muscles from twitching. She was told to see her orthopedic doctor on Monday and request stronger medications so that a future MRI could be successful. I spent Friday evening with her, and she barely slept. She was in such pain, but every time she had called about it, she was told to keep her appointment on Monday with the orthopedist. I drove her to her appointment on Monday, and after taking one look at her leg, the orthopedist ordered us to go directly to the Emergency Room. That was a week ago, and Valissa has been hospitalized ever since. An MRI revealed that Valissa had 2 abscesses that had formed as a result of an undetected infection. This deep tissue infection had weakened the  Tibialis muscle to the extent that when she kicked the kickball, the muscle tore in half. Since it took a week and a half to get a proper diagnosis, she had some significant muscle tissue loss. The tibialis is the most central of all the leg muscles, and is located in the deep posterior  compartment of the leg. It is the key stabilizing muscle of the lower leg.  The surgeons had to remove the upper part of the tibialis muscle and then piece the rest back together. They then had to shave off any remaining dead muscle tissue. They also had to drain fluid/blood from her leg using a vac. Additionally, the muscle on her right big toe is useless.  On Monday (March 12th) she will go home with crutches, a walker and a catheter IV in her arm to help with the infection. She has been instructed to remain off of her right leg completely for 2 weeks, and she cannot return to work for at least 4.  All in all, she was lucky. A couple days more and she could have lost much more muscle tissue or even her leg below the knee. She was also in danger of developing sepsis. What she is most concerned about right now are her finances. She has already used 8 work days due to this injury. Now she only has enough leave to take her through the 15 of March, so she is mostly concerned about that right now. I told her to just concentrate on getting better and the rest would work itself out.  We all know that the body responds best when stress is low, so I am trying to help with that aspect of her healing. Anything that you feel led to contribute will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
