Funds for Alan - Giving cancer the red card
Donation protected
On October 27, Alan had quadruple bypass surgery and spent over a week at Mercy Hospital recovering. In the lead up to his surgery, a CT scan revealed a mass in his lung. After his surgery, a biopsy confirmed what we had all feared most - that this mass is in fact cancer, stage 3 non-small cell lung cancer.
In addition to healing from a big, invasive surgery, Alan now faces cancer treatments. In the coming weeks, he will undergo additional scans to determine a more accurate staging and meet with the oncology team to develop a plan. In typical Alan fashion, he is facing this latest challenge with determination and humor.
While there are still many uncertainties ahead, one thing we do know is that Alan will likely be away from work and the soccer field for some time. Unfortunately during this time, gas tanks will still need to be filled, bills will continue to need to be paid, and groceries purchased.
Alan would never be one to ask for assistance, but his kids aren’t above it! Alan gives so much to his community and family - he truly is one of the hardest working humans we know. We want him to be able to focus fully on getting strong enough for treatments (and then kicking butt!) without the burden of financial stressors.
Funds raised will be used to pay medical bills, housing, food...essentially used to help keep the McIntosh household up and running during this time.
Thank you for all of the love and support so many of you have already shown over the last couple of weeks. We know our parents feel it and appreciate it more than they could ever say.
Love,
Ashley, Whitney and Casey McIntosh
