Donations for a rural Bhutanese school

UPDATE: Dear Contributors, I am pleased to let you know that the school has now received the funds you have helped me raise. They are very grateful for your contribution. Again, thank you kindly! This fundraiser is now closed.

Hello, I recently did some volunteer English teaching at a rural school in Bhutan. It was a wonderful experience and I felt honoured to be with them. I contributed as much as I could during my time there with my teaching resources, daily support and professional development sessions but I have left feeling that there is so much more that I would like to give to the school.

This is a group photo of me with one of the classes I taught.

"Khuruthang Middle Secondary School is a co-educational UNESCO Associated School[1] near Khuruthang, a town 4 km south of Punakha Dzong[2] in the Punakha District of Bhutan. It was founded in 1996,[1] and by 2015 it had become the largest school in Punakha district, with 1109 students." (Source: Wikipedia)

This is a photo of the library at the school. I would love to raise funds so that they can purchase more library books. The students have regular library periods assigned in their schedule. Part of my duties was to help them select an appropriate fiction book to read and to help them with understanding the vocabulary and language. However, I realised that a wider selection of books would help the students make better choices. They love reading and they simply need more books. I can post books directly to the school if I raise enough funds to cover the postage cost.

These are photos of the classroom. There are blackboards but they often run out of chalk. There are wooden desks and chairs for the students but many of them are broken.  There is no room for storage in the desks or in the cupboards. There are no pin-boards. They have to tape their work on the walls and they often fall off.  Only two rooms have whiteboards but they often run out of whiteboard markers. There is no educational technology in the classrooms or library. It would be wonderful if they could use the funds to help with classroom equipment as well, especially if I surpass my initial fund goal of $1000.

If you could help fulfil my wish to be able to give more to the school, I would be most eternally grateful for anything that you can donate. I can transfer the funds through the Canada-Bhutan Foundation who organise the volunteer teaching program in conjunction with the Ministry of Education of Bhutan.
