Beirut Explosion - to support Lebanese Red Cross
Donation protected
A devastating explosion rocked the city of Beirut in Lebanon on Tue 4th August. The explosion tore through the city, flipping cars, shattering glass and causing some homes to crumble. Homes and property as far as 10km away were damaged. At least 135 people have been killed and 5,000 wounded in the explosion. Hundreds are reported missing, raising fears that the death toll will rise. More than 300,000 people have been displaced from their homes with authorities declaring Beirut a "disaster city" and imposing a two-week state of emergency. The blast was even felt in Cyprus, around 240km away, and registered as a 3.3 magnitude earthquake.
I ask that we have those affected by this in our prayers, and pray for those that have perished.
All funds raised will be transferred to the Lebanese Red Cross which is on the front line, dealing with this tragic event. The organization says it has deployed more than 125 ambulances after the explosion. Red Cross emergency workers are helping to find the injured or dead, distributing food and offering shelter to the displaced.
Any amount that can be raised will be of great help. It would be fantastic if $5000 or more can be raised.
Please forward to family and friends who would like to support this fundraiser.
