It is near impossible to live in Santa Maria, California and not know the names Cindy and Joey Silva. They have been dedicated and loving members of our community for decades and they never say 'no' when someone is in need. They give so much to our community, and now it is our turn to give some of that selfless love back to them.
A couple of weeks ago, Cindy fell very ill and was hospitalized at Marion Regional Medical Center. The doctors and nurses ran numerous tests but could not determine the cause of Cindy's pain and symptoms. After a few days, she was transferred to Stanford University to get answers and a diagnosis. Following even more tests, the doctors discovered that Cindy is in multi-organ failure, caused initially by liver failure. Cindy is now in need of a liver transplant. Her husband, Joey, will have to move up to Stanford to be with her as she will be required to stay in the hospital during the transplant process and live close by after she is discharged for monitoring.
This journey may last for some months and while Stanford University is providing the best possible medical care, the out-of-pocket costs are overwhelming. Any amount you can donate to this family to help cover medical, travel, living, and day-to-day expenses is much appreciated. As a community, we need to band together to help the Silva family as they have done for us time and time again.
