Guatemalan Midwife Training
Donation protected
I am a senior at Youth Initiative High School, located in rural Wisconsin. A large part of the senior curriculum at YIHS is to develop and implement a very detailed senior project. For my Senior Project, I created an amazing opportunity to help my Aunt Jennifer with training a group of midwives in Guatemala.
For months I had been brainstorming for ideas on what I might do for my senior project, and when I discussed my idea with my Aunt of doing the above, I instantly knew that it was what I would do for my senior project. I was lucky enough to be able to go on a school trip to Guatemala last March, and the trip changed my life. The trip gave me new perspectives on life. I will never forget it, and it will continue to inspire me even beyond my senior project.
The area I will be going to in Guatemala is an area of extreme poverty and most of the midwives can't
pay to attend the training. So, I am looking to fundraise for scholarships to provide the midwives with food, a place to sleep, and full payment of the training. I am also planning on providing the attendees with basic medical supplies that they cannot afford. They will take these with them for use in their daily work.
