In Loving Memory of Jose Burgos

Donation protected
To all my friends, family, loved ones, and anyone who may not know me or my grandfather but is still looking for a way to help, I would like to thank you for your support in this difficult time.

I wish I had words, right or wrong, but I am currently at a loss.

I can't believe that I'm typing this let alone asking for your help once more in such a short period of time but as some of you may know, I lost my grandfather Jose Antonio Burgos Aviles, on Saturday, November 18th. I didn't realize how difficult it would be to type that sentence...

Two weeks ago, his brother was killed. Last week, he lost his job at Disney because he took a tip.... a 70 year old man, who was the hardest working man I have ever met took a tip and his supervisor at Disney's Caribbean Beach called him up to tell him to go home because he just lost his job. Two days later he was called back in. All of us thought he had received his job back but the higher ups had other ideas as they made him dress up, go to work, only for him to be told once again that he had lost his job.

My grandfather was a great man. He is....was...is the man that I most admire on this earth. He taught me about discipline, hard work, patience, how to change a tire, how to tie a tie, how to be a gentleman, he was Abuelo... the best there could be and I hope he knows that. He was the man that I always tried to emulate and I hope that one day I can be a third of the man he was.

Over the past few weeks my family has dealt with the passing of a loved one and to my grandfather in particular, it was an extremely tough set of circumstances that we believe led to his passing. All the stress, pain and financial difficulties that were already pressing on him became more strenuous with the loss of his job. One from which he was only a year away from being able to retire and at least receive a pension that would allow him and my grandmother to enjoy their remaining years in peace without him having to wake up every single day at 6am to work standing on his aching knees from 8am to 4:30pm as a bellhop to make ends meet.

I say all this because, once more, my family is reaching out for your help. Not only for his funeral and burial but also to cover costs of moving my grandmother from Florida to Georgia so that she can be with her family instead of remaining alone in their rented Central Florida home where she is 4 and a half hours away from her nearest family. We also need to continue raising funds for his brother's proceedings as the family in Puerto Rico is tending to that matter as well.

Even if you cannot donate, please share. Maybe someone on your timeline/friends list is able to donate or share and down the line my family can get the help they need. I loathe having to do this again, but this isn't something we expected and we just don't have the means for it.

Thank you for reading this. I apologize for the longwinded nature of this message after stating that I was at a loss. I guess the words just started coming to me. Right or wrong, they are what they are.

God bless you and may we all find peace and understanding through the good times and the not so good times.
