Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's Follicular Small B-cell Lymphoma - Help Sharon Kick Cancer’s Butt  Our very dear, life long friend and sister from another mister, Sharon Barouh was recently diagnosed with stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's Follicular Small  B-cell Lymphoma.  This is her second bout with this deadly cancer and for those of you lucky enough to be a part of her life, you know she is not only a cheerful, funny, smart, loving and an unbelievably strong, extraordinary human being, but someone who always puts her friends and family before herself.  Now she needs help and because she’d never ask for it, we’re stepping in to do it for her. Sharon’s been our Google, since before there was an internet.  She is a living, breathing encyclopedia of knowledge.  She is a lover of music, animals and mathematics, with a heart and laugh so big they can fill a stadium to capacity.  While her cancer had been in remission, the darkness has returned and she needs all of us to shine a bright light on this cockroach of diseases and send it scurrying back into hiding. We can’t imagine a world without our childhood friend Sharon; so we have come to this platform to begin the fight to save her precious life. All lives are worth fighting for, but especially Sharon’s because she brings so much beauty, humor and joy to the world.  She inspires everyone around her, even strangers. She has a heart of gold and truly cares about others.  Her sofa is always available to those who need it for a night or two and even longer.  She has an empathetic and compassionate ear to listen and is selfless to the end;  we have started this campaign because Sharon would never consider asking for the help herself and if ever there was a time she needed help, it’s now. During this pandemic and time of mass unemployment, Sharon has struggled, having to accept an $8.25 per hour, minimum wage job she is far too qualified for and which doesn't even begin to cover her cost of living now that she is facing mounting medical expenses. Forced to give up her beautiful apartment, she is currently renting a single room in a stranger’s house, residing with 7 others who share one bathroom.  In spite of these health and economic struggles, she remains optimistic and considers herself more fortunate than others.  Sharon has spent her entire adult life as a hardworking, honest and dedicated employee, but now, under Doctor’s orders, is being forced to stop working since beginning aggressive Chemotherapy on February 18th.  She has been told she must quit her job and concentrate on healing until her six month treatment and three month recovery period conclude.  We believe she has the personal spirit and strength to push her cancer back into remission.  Sharon has an application for SSI in process, but everyone knows how slowly the wheels of our government move, so it has not yet been approved and approval can take anywhere up to three months or more. While she awaits a decision, she has no source of income. Zero dollars. The Cancerous tumor in her left lower abdomen makes it difficult to walk, is pressing against her organs, causing bladder issues and ulcerative colitis.  She also suffers from diabetes and cellulitis on her leg, meaning she is at risk of amputation.  To add to her list of health issues, she has a severe esophagitis, which causes her to choke on just a few sips of water or bites of food.  While she juggles these physical hardships she must now also deal with huge financial pressures. The stress is making everything even worse and in a recent phone conversation, while trying to make us feel good, we heard the concern in her voice.  She needs assistance to survive and she needs it fast!  No one confronting a terminal illness should have to worry about their food, housing and bills.  She has exhausted her entire life’s savings and all of her resources, selling off most of her personal possessions just to stay alive. With no mate, family support or anyone nearby to assist with her daily challenges, Sharon is facing this life-threatening illness all alone, as we are not able to be with her during this time of COVID-19.   Her parents are gone and she has no family who can offer her any kind of support, moral or financial. Still, she remains upbeat, positive and playful; an inspiration to us all.  Even In her darkest moments she offers words of encouragement, finding ways to lift us up when we are down because of her circumstances.   It is a miracle that she has not caught Covid.  The doctors say she cannot get the vaccine during her cancer treatments, so she is at further risk.  She will need food and supplies brought to her as much as possible.  One thing is certain, our friendship will never die. She will always be our best friend, but she is a best friend to all.  Sharon has been a shoulder to lean on for others, now it’s her turn to lean on us.  We realize these are difficult times for everyone, but are hoping you can donate so she can focus on her treatment and not her bills.  Personal insurance and SSI unfortunately do not provide enough to cover all her medical and living expenses and she does not qualify for unemployment.   Now, it's time that we send back some of that love and support to Sharon.  Anything you can donate will be truly appreciated.  Please do what you can and help us surround her with love so she can focus on defeating cancer.  She is one of a kind;  we have never known anyone with such strength, resilience or courage.  Spread the word!
