Fundraiser in loving memory of Barry Marshall

To all our lovely friends and family, I am reaching out to you all in loving memory of my grandad, Barry Marshall, to raise money in aid of Hospice in the Weald. Any donation you could make, big or small, would make a huge difference - every penny counts. 

Barry Marshall was an inspiring man who unfortunately lost his 7 month battle with liver cancer in the early hours on the 14th of January. He was the most caring and remarkable man who achieved so much.

I once asked Barry what his great achievements were, and he stated, being awarded the Union Jack for representing Great Britain, along with being chef d’equipe (leader) in the Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992. Barry was a top trainer and judge for dressage and wrote many books on the topic, he also competed in dressage. But he told me that above all that, his best moment was the day he become a father, and a husband to Leonie. Barry was not just grandad to me, he was my best friend. I looked up to him and he never failed to make you smile, he had a great sense of humor and a positive attitude to life - he was truly inspirational.

We would like to thank the Hospice in the Weald for their marvellous help and support. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated and we know how much it would mean to Barry.


More information about Hospice in the Weald: Hospice in the Weald provides care to patients with a terminal illness, their families and carers in West Kent and Northern East Sussex. We are there 24 hours a day to help, support and care for patients with an illness where a cure is no longer possible, or where patients will at some stage die from their illness. The care we provide is completely free of charge to our patients, their families and carers. We are not part of the NHS, and we need to raise 7 million pounds every year to fund our services.
