Veteran Rudy Archuleta Fundraiser

Donation protected

A “fire took from Archuleta, a 69-year-old U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era, everything he had spent his life collecting: tools, furniture, food, clothes, books, magazines, photos, military discharge papers and other documents. Now he is living in his two-room garage, which houses his old workshop, with his two dogs, Negro and Chica.” -Santa Fe New Mexican

We are working raise money for firewood to keep him warm while we figure out a more permanent solution to his housing situation.  We have reached out local organizations for support and hoping to partner with them to make something happen for Mr. Archuleta soon. Full article is below:

Update: where your donations are going!  At this point the objectives are to:

1. Raise money for firewood and daily needs (food/health), we’ve already put $600 into firewood and delivered $100 in food/clothes.

2. Use funds to improve his current living situation like insulation being installed into his unfinished garage.

3. Find a single wide trailer home to be donated and then placed on his property; the cost to havea trailer hauled to his property will likely run from $800-$1200 depending on location.

4. Use funds to get the trailer hooked up and working. There will be significant work associated with making a trailer live-able, such as plumbing and electrical hook ups, replace fixtures and install a ramp for him and his dogs to get in and out with ease.

5. Then the real need for “stuff” starts: furniture, bed, table, chairs, dressers; all to furnish his new home. We hope to get as much donated items as possible, but since he lost everything there will some cost for things that need to be bought new.

Note: his space is limited in current living quarters, so donations of food and firewood are all thoughtful and very welcomed, but his real need will be funds to help secure his new home.

Also, please be aware that I (Michael Burd) am responsible for the withdrawal and use (or delivery) of funds. As items are purchased, work accomplished you can see your donations at work on our Facebook page.
