Fundraiser for Ryan Overmyer

Donation protected
In September, our dear friends were faced with the unimaginable: a stage four cancer diagnosis at the age of 39. Ryan Overmyer, a father of four boys is the most friendly, funny and humble guy you could ever meet.

Ryan and Megan’s lives changed  drastically in September when he received a diagnosis of Mucinous Cecal Colon Cancer.  They began meeting with several doctors taking any steps  possible to save Ryan’s life. He had a major colon resection along with having his gall bladder, part of his  liver and some of his stomach lining removed.  He has also completed two months of intense chemotherapy.

Ryan and Megan have worked hard to maintain as much of their “normal” life as possible for their four boys, Noah, Brayden, Drue & Gavin.  Even in the midst of his intense chemo treatment, Ryan has managed to continue working and has somehow kept his positive attitude and sense of humor.

Doctors have made it clear that he has ONE option moving forward to try and treat his type of cancer: the HIPEC treatment. This is a surgical procedure that works to remove any remaining tumors and to chemo wash the inside of his abdomen to kill any leftover cancer cells. There is NO other treatment for Ryan.

The good news news is that Ryan and Megan have been able to meet with Dr. Sugarbaker, the one who created the HIPEC  procedure, in Washington DC. He believes this is the right course of treatment for Ryan and has agreed to take on his case. However, this procedure will not be covered by his insurance which makes this journey even more stressful for the Overmyer’s. Surgery alone could cost up to $30,000.

While non of us can cure his cancer, we can come along side of them and lift their financial burden. We can allow them to focus on getting Ryan healthy and taking care of their boys.

They need $20,000 by January 21st for Ryan to have this life saving treatment. This is the most urgent physical need at the moment because without it he can not move forward with the treatment. We’ve set the goal over the $20,000 to help out with other expenses such as deductibles, coinsurance and various other expenses they will incur as they travel for treatment.

The surgery will take place in Washington DC and will require Ryan and Megan to be away from their boys for two weeks. We’d love to put another meal train to feed their boys while they’re away for treatment. Here's the link to sign up    https://mealtrain.com/l7r95d

Lastly, and most importantly, PRAY! Ryan and Megan have shown us all what it is to walk by faith as they have trusted God to take care of them through each step. We know that the Lord is the Ultimate Physician, and we are thankful that He, above all is in control. Ryan and Megan are trusting him for complete healing. Would you join us in asking for that too?

Here are some other specific ways to pray:

- pray that we can come together to quickly raise the $20,000 Ryan needs to have thus procedure.

-pray that the insurance company would approve any and all other necessary procedures.

- pray for strength and endurance for Megan as she cares for Ryan after surgery

- pray for Noah, Brayden, Drue and Gavin as they process all that is happening around them. Pray that God would make himself evident and real to them in this season of life.
