Fundraiser for Rebecca Chovan Faile

Donation protected

My name is Brandon Pardue, I am helping some dear friends through a very tough Emotional and Financial hardship. I reached out to Rebecca's son Scott to tell us the story and the details. If there is anyway you can help, it would be greatly appreciated! Let's come together to love and support this great family in our community. Thanks for your time...

Hello, my name is Scott Barrett. My mother Rebecca Chovan Faile is one of the strongest people I know, but even the strong need help sometimes. Rebecca has been serving our communities as a Special Education Teacher for at least as long as I’ve been alive which is 23 years. She has taught all grades 1-12 and has even stayed after hours for groups such as FitKids and even home bound instruction to help children where they needed it the most.

During this COVID-19 Pandemic, many people have lost income and any sense of normalcy that we have become accustomed too. My mother lost over half her income due to not being able to work these after hour jobs that she needs to survive. My mother had to start looking elsewhere to live because she could not survive in the current place on half of her income. To make matters worse, My sister, Mikayla Rebecca Barrett, passed away unexpectedly to a drug overdose at only 20 years old. This has left my mom devastated and also having to pick up my late sister's bills. Including her car, speeding tickets, etc that my mom can’t afford to pay. At this point with losing a daughter and already not being able to pay bills along with any income that Mikayla helped with, my mom couldn't live in the apartments anymore. She did as many of us have done and told her apartment that she would have to be leaving due to the pandemic and sudden loss of income as well as the loss of her daughter while she was inside the apartment.

The apartment in Fort Mill SC, told her that she could do payments, once the Lease Break fee, any damages, etc were totaled. My mother has been in contact for weeks trying to find out a total and was still being told a payment plan could be set up through them. She finally got an answer back...They are trying to make her pay for 2-3 months rent which totals around $4,000 when she’s not staying there during a national pandemic and expect her to make it in payments before the contract runs out or the bill will be sent to Collections which had never been mentioned to her until the last minute. If it goes to collections my mom will not be able to rent from anywhere and might not have a place to stay. I also had to move due to loss of employment and my apartment waived our newly signed lease agreement and only made us pay one month.

The company, who is in charge of the apartments, do not seem to care at all and just want their money. There is also the funeral and other expenses that go along with my sisters passing. I would appreciate any and all donations to the cause. We are trying to raise $10,000 so that my mother can not have to worry about having a place to live and also not have to worry about how she’s going to afford to survive while making arrangements for her daughter's funeral and all those expenses as well. We are not sure of the total amount but we know there will be a good bit of Medical Expenses coming due from Mikayla’s passing. We appreciate anything that you can do to help. Thank you for reading and understanding.
