<div>This past Sunday morning, my foster pup Maxie managed to get into a box of Brillo pads. When I noticed some were missing, I rushed him straight to the emergency hospital. An X-ray confirmed my fears — Maxie had swallowed five Brillo pads. A specialist was called in to perform an endoscopy, and thankfully, they were able to retrieve everything and avoid major surgery. He was released the same day and is expected to make a full recovery. ❤️

<div>As you can imagine, an emergency visit like this is very costly. Canine Castaways has already been struggling with limited funds, so I paid the invoice with my credit card to make sure Maxie got the care he needed right away. Any help with covering this unexpected expense would mean the world to both me and Maxie.

</div>

<div>Maxie is a gentle senior with a big heart (and apparently a very unusual taste in snacks). I began fostering him after his beloved mom, Katherine, tragically passed away in a car accident this summer. Katherine was an incredible woman and a cherished member of the rescue community. She dedicated countless hours to Canine Castaways Rescue as a board member, fundraiser, and event organizer.
