Matthew's Road to Recovery

Earlier this year, our wonderful friend and pastor, Matthew Weber, suffered a very serious skiing accident that resulted in a spinal cord injury. Currently, he is at Craig Hospital and putting every ounce of his amazing attitude and strength towards healing and recovery.
Doctors have indicated that there's no way to really know the extent of recovery possible following a spinal cord injury. But the staff at Craig Hospital is among the best in the nation, and he is making daily progress. It's a long road ahead and Matthew will be working through an intensive rehabilitation program for several more months. He is not likely to return to being a pastor until the fall at the earliest.
It took some convincing before Matthew and Nicole would agree to this fundraising campaign. The are both much more accustomed to giving generously and putting others' needs first. But even with insurance covering some of the costs, medical bills and other expenses are quickly mounting. Going forward, the cost of outpatient rehabilitation including Matthew’s transportation to and from appointments while he can’t drive, along with those additional items like safety bars in the bathrooms, wheelchair rental, etc., will add up quickly; those things, along with Matthew’s decrease in salary, all will add pressure to their household finances. The rehabilitation process is long, and instead of the conservative treatment plan partially covered by insurance, Matthew and Nicole want to be as intentional as possible in these most important first months of recovery by approaching rehab aggressively so that Matthew makes as much progress as possible. Our hope is to ease the great financial stress of this situation as best as we can so they can focus on what is most important – healing and moving forward.
