As a candidate I am required to sell magazine ads. The money I raise will go directly to the pageant and the following causes: Breast Cancer Walk, Historic Filipinotown Festival and 5K Run, Fashion for a Cause - ABS-CBN Foundation benefitting Bantay Bata, Operation Smile & many more!
Hello, my name is Mariel Angelica Mendoza and I'm 17 years old from Los Angeles, CA. I am a graduating Senior at New Open World Academy. I'm an honor roll student, while being an athlete, and involved in clubs/organizations that give back to my community. Although I was raised in the US, I still highly hold onto my Filipino traditions & values. I know this pageant will expand my horizons, allow me to network, and overall open many doors for me.
This pageant's mission is also similar to my advocacy. Growing up my parents always emphasized the importance of education. I've seen how it can really impact our lives especially coming from a third world country and going to school in a low income community. I aspire to make a difference by helping promote education.
