Fundraiser for Leo Hood

Thursday Leo was admitted to the hospital for possible dehydration after being seen by our midwife and a pediatrician for lack of weight gain and some scary episodes of loss of color. At the hospital they noticed his breathing seemed odd and after a chest X-ray gave us the news that Leo’s heart was too big and we would be flown to Denver Children’s hospital immediately . Once in Denver the tests showed that Leo had a coarctation of his aorta which means he has a narrowing of part of the aorta and a ductus that typically closes at birth was allowing blood to bypass that area and now was closing which was causing loss of blood flow. Leo was in need of heart surgery to remove the ductus and widen the aorta. Apparently this is a fairly common heart condition so risk was lower and he was believed to be just fine after the surgery. Leo went in for surgery Friday (yesterday) and everything went great!! Today we have been able to enjoy holding him and seeing his eyes open, and he has lost some of his “accessories” like his breathing tube! While it will be a couple weeks of recovery here in Denver it seems like Leo will be just fine! We have had amazing teams in Bozeman and in Denver to take care of our little guy. It has been quite the whirlwind and emotional past few days but God is so good!! Justin and I have been able to be with Leo every step even on the flight, which never happens! It has been amazing to see how the Lord has provided everything we need! We Appreciate continued prayer for Leo has he recovers!
