Fundraiser for Endamaghan Primary School, Tanzania

Many of you will recognise this school as I've been taking clients to it since around 2007. It's a remote primary school near the shores of Lake Eyasi in Tanzania and 12 years ago it had just over 500 pupils.
To date it has 924 pupils, including 218 boarders, but only 17 staff.
School meals for all children are made on an open fire in two huge pots - maize meal is the staple diet. The school has no mains electricity and is trying to run on solar power. Water supply is via a pipe off the Ngorongoro Highlands which is regularly disrupted by elephants.
The school has no computer and a chronic shortage of basic school essentials: paper, pens, books and even cups and bowls for food and drink.
Some schools, especially near the main roads in tourist areas of Tanzania, get regular visitors and hence support, but Lake Eyasi is a remote area - in February this year I was their first visitor for over 3 months! Out of all the schools I visit, it's probably my favourite as it's such a remote area and the welcome we get and the friendliness of the children is fantastic!
Most schools in Tanzania are chronically underfunded, and while primary education, like at Endamaghan School is supposed to be free, the government simply does not have sufficient funds to support the schools properly. Virtually every person who visits this school is touched by its pupils and staff and ask ' How can I help ?'
In conversations with the Headmaster of the school and the clinic, I've been given a list of their most needed items including: laptop, photocopier, mattresses, sheets, paper, pens, exercise books, footballs, netballs and car batteries to store the solar power.
The clinic needs weighing scales, delivery bed, microscope, masks, Hb testing machines and funds for health education in the community.
It's not easy giving funds nor getting equipment to the school, so this is a one-off fund raiser to raise as much funds as possible, to provide as many of these items as possible.

100% of any money donated will be used for these purchases and to transport items to the school. All items are available in Tanzania and I will arrange to have them bought there and then delivered by vehicle to Lake Eyasi.
As an extra incentive I'll be attempting the Long Mynd Hike, here in Shropshire UK, on Saturday the 5th of October, which is a 50 mile hike with over 8,000 ft of elevation with 8 summits and needs to be completed in under 24 hours - it'll hurt but will be worth it to see the smiles on the Tanzanian childrens' faces!
