Fundraiser for Douglas Sweet

Douglas is a young man in our community and the son of our dear friends Doug and Rita Sweet (and big brother to Ashley).
On August 10th, Douglas was in a serious skateboarding accident late at night. He was riding alone and he fell off his board one street away from his home. His friends found him unresponsive soon after the fall. He suffered a traumatic brain injury and was airlifted to UMASS Medical Center in Worcester to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. For almost two weeks Douglas wasn't responsive. Finally he made the breakthrough his family had been waiting for when he squeezed his mother's hand (on request) to acknowledge he could hear her. Over the next several days Douglas made enough progress to transfer out of the hospital and continue his fight!
He is currently an in-patient at Spaulding Rehabilitation Center in Boston. His family is thrilled with the services he is receiving and the progress he is making. He is working hard every day, but he has a long road ahead! He will need to learn to walk and write again, as well as execute other everyday tasks many of us do with ease.
With mounting medical expenses, our circle of friends wanted to do something to help this family we all love, as they could certainly use our assistance during these trying times. We would all be so grateful for any financial assistance you could give as the family walks this path with Douglas and he continues healing and gaining strength.
