Fundraiser for Delbert Yazzie funeral expenses

Yá’át’ééh, Shidine’ é. My name is Danielle Paddock Yazzie, I along with my siblings: Uriah, Darwin and Delrae Yazzie lost our father, Delbert “Pops” Yazzie due to complications as a result of Covid-19 on April 2, 2020. We would first like to acknowledge everyone for their compassion, memories and condolences.

Delbert was Naakai Diné é, born for Kiyaa’ áanii. Delbert worked at the Tuba City Boarding School for 28 years. He loved playing his guitar, singing, working on vehicles, picking on his loved ones, cooking for his family, playing with his grandchildren and cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

My siblings and I are setting up a Go Fund Me Campaign to collect monetary donations so that we can give our father the most appropriate funeral as possible. Considering the circumstances surrounding social distancing and because we want to keep everyone safe, we will have to modify traditional funeral practices. This has been very difficult because we were not able to be with him by his side and we cannot grieve together as a family. Your donations will go towards cremation costs, floral arrangements, burial costs, we are also exploring ways to teleconference services.
