<div>I'm Salvador Castillo Placensia V, also known as Cinco, a Mexican-American artist based in Philadelphia specializing in immersive performance, new technologies, and puppetry.

<div>Today, I am thrilled to share with you an exciting project that I have been working on for the past two years - Blue Silk, an enchanting puppet fairy tale that critically examines the things we consume, rely on, and are addicted to.

<div><strong>Blue Silk is not your typical puppet show.</strong> It centers around the relationship between two characters: Mr. Trenchfoot, a disgruntled former CEO with a history in silk manufacturing, and The Puppet, a forgetful silk user. In the world of Blue Silk, silk is rubbed on the face for a euphoric and comforting experience, like being wrapped in a cocoon of silk. It tells a story of consumption, addiction, and dependence on resources that are ultimately limited.

<div>I am honored to have been selected for the BIPOC New Work Track as a part of the <a href="https://www.cannonballfestival.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cannonball Hub</a>  of the <a href="https://phillyfringe.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Philadelphia Fringe Festival</a> . This is a huge opportunity for my career development and more importantly, an opportunity to share a story that I believe will resonate with many.

<div>The new work track provides a $3,000 stipend which will be used to pay the talented artists I am working with and cover travel expenses. An additional $2,000 has been pledged by a mentor of mine, which will go towards the materials used in building the puppets and the set.
</div>

</div>
<div><strong>However, to fully realize the potential of Blue Silk, I am attempting to raise an additional $1,000 from family, friends, and kind donors like you.</strong> This money will go directly towards the future life of Blue Silk, technology supplies, and to the artists who make it possible. It will fund storage &amp; transportation, enabling us to tour this piece to other cities and share our story with a broader audience. It will also go towards marketing materials such as posters, flyers, and social media boosts.

<div>Blue Silk started as a way for me to cope with the different kinds of addictions happening all around me. It uncovered a world of grief, showing that everyone has their own experience with addiction, whether it be themselves or someone they know. I believe that when people see Blue Silk, they will see themselves or their loved ones in the puppets' actions and being.
