Fundraiser for baby Evelyn
Donation protected
I am raising money for my friend's baby, beautiful little 16-week-old Evelyn, who was sadly born with neuroblastoma. Neuroblastoma is rare cancer that starts in very early forms of nerve cells, most often found in an embryo or fetus.
Evelyn has already had two rounds of chemotherapy; her first round started when she was 15 days old after one of the tumours grew to 15cm, compromising her vital organs, and she then contracted sepsis. She reacted to her first round of chemo and ended up in HDU on breathing support. However, she kept declining and had to receive heart and lung scans, where she got sepsis for a second time. The hospital then decided she needed to be under the care of PICU, and she would need to be sedated to give her tiny body a rest.
After five days in PICU, the chemo treatment began to work, and the tumour on her liver began to shrink, and by day seven, she no longer needed her breathing aids and was stable enough to undergo round two of her chemo a week later, which has shrunk her liver tumors, but hasn’t shrunk her primary tumor on her left adrenal gland which will be closely monitored.
Evelyn finally got to go home to her family, including two big sisters and a brother, when she was seven weeks old. But she has still got a long journey in front of her and is going to be under hospital care for at least her childhood years.
If you would like to follow Evelyn’s journey, her Mum and Dad have set up this page where they post regular updates on how she is doing
