Fundraiser for Activist Alfred "Popeye" Barfield

Hello Everyone,

The Global Vision Support Services, LLC, in partnership with community members, is reaching out to let you know that we have a fundraiser to help one of our community activists. As a 501(c)(3) Certified Charity, we are a Mental Health, Behavioral Health, and Community Health Agency providing multiple services to people across North Carolina. Mr. Alfred Barfield, affectionately known as Popeye or Barfield, is facing a life-threatening medical challenge and now needs help. We’re excited to sponsor this fundraiser to help Mr. Barfield, who has spent 60+ years serving Craven County and surrounding communities until his declining health. He has always reached out to help those in need.

We have set a goal of $12,000. With the funds, we can help Mr. Barfield with his medical expenses. We would like to involve the community and allow everyone to show Popeye the love he has willingly demonstrated throughout the years.

Mr. Barfield has worked diligently to help those in need regardless of race, creed or color. As a long-time activist, he served as President of the Local Craven County NAACP for 14 years and then as a North Carolina NAACP District Director for several years. He received many honors, including The Order of the Long Leaf Pine, which the NC Governor presents to those who provide excellent service to their communities that is above and beyond the call of duty. Also, for those who may not know, he has worked within the community to provide Christmas baskets for 40+ years.

We know that it will take the community to help reach this goal. Therefore, any contribution is truly appreciated and will make a difference.
