Our Gorgeous Mother Dina Huffman, those who know her best would all agree she is a precious soul and the true definition of selfless. She has always been a godly woman whose father was a Baptist preacher in a small, but very beautiful town of Black, Alabama. She was raised with her older brother Danny and two older sisters, Debra and Dena. Being the baby of the family, one would only assume she would have been spoiled and coddled, however, that has never been the case. From a very young age, she became her sister's protector and safe haven, always being the one to turn to when in need. She has never met a stranger and has always welcomed everyone with big, warm, open arms. Our mother doesn't have a lot of friends, what she has is a wonderful, huge, extended family. A beautiful family whom she would do anything for, anytime, any day, with her big beautiful wide smile expecting nothing in return. For to know our gorgeous mother is to love her.
She has always been a very hard worker and provided her children with everything from animals to toys. She taught us how to be tough and resilient and has always been in our corner and our biggest supporter. She has sacrificed so much for us and we're just trying to return the love and support she has shown us.
In 2012, our mother made the very difficult decision to move to Kentucky to be closer to her mother after her stepfather passed. Her sister Debra volunteered to move in with and care for their mother and our mother decided to help support her sister by moving closer. It was not however without a heavy heart, she had to part with her two daughters, son, and two granddaughters ages 3 and 1 to whom she was incredibly close with. Since then she has once more became a wonderful and loving Nana to her grandson. Unfortunately, just 5 months before this world was blessed with that little angel God decided to take another beautiful angel from us all, our amazing Granny in 2015.
For nine very long years our mother has been longing to move back to Wisconsin where we are all waiting for her. She has missed out on so much of our lives, our triumphs, our lowest points, seeing, and experiencing her grandchildren grow up.
January of this year many of you know she suffered an unexpected, devastating and debilitating hemorrhagic stroke. She had to be airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital where she was bedridden and in agonizing and crippling pain. With no other option she had to undergo a craniectomy, which left her without her beautiful, long, signature hair, caused continuous issues with her short-term memory, balance, peripheral vision, and makes her depend on others for help and support.
Our mother is by far the strongest woman on Earth but seeing her after the surgery broke our hearts. She was so frail, helpless, and the weakest we have ever seen. In the blink of an eye, she went from a strong, healthy, beautiful, vibrant, loving, and very independent woman who was always so full of life, to a fragile, withdrawn woman who has to depend on family and friends to help her with the smallest of things. If you knew our mother, you would know of her love for cooking, gardening, entertaining family and friends, and the love she had for her animals. It's heartbreaking to see her so dependent on others.
Fortunately, little by little and day by day she's slowly getting better. However, she has not been able to work, so for now she's relying on others and the little she makes from disability for support. Her son dropped his life in Wisconsin to stay with her and help out with what he could but has recently returned to Wisconsin. Her amazing, loving, loyal, and selfless friend and roommate Lynn has been by her side this whole time, doing everything in her power to help her physically and financially.
Now more than ever our mother needs to be with family. We are doing our very best to move her back to Wisconsin, help her find a suitable place to live, and pay some of her medical bills, unfortunately we cannot do this alone. Our family doesn't often ask for help, but we are drowning and asking our and our mothers friends and family to please help us bring our mother home where she belongs. We are calling on everyone who cares for and loves our gorgeous mother, everyone who has ever had their day shine a little brighter because of her, everyone she has ever selflessly helped. Please anything would help, even $1 would be appreciated.
We know times are hard and we can only do so much. We also need your help telling our mother's story, so if you could please share this to your Facebook page we would forever be in your debt.
Thank you for your time and selfless acts of kindness. Bless you all sincerely❤️
