FUND RAISING FOR A GOOD CAUSE

Education is indeed a veritable gateway out of ignorance into an informed, meaningful and purposeful life.

Good education is often referred to as the greatest legacy that we can bequeath our children.

However, with the current poverty level especially in the African Continent, good quality Education is largely above the reach of the poor.

Nigeria, a diverse country with high population of children with high quality “Native Intelligence”, under-provides in the needed infrastructures for formal Education.

No thanks to Low Budgetary Allocations across the States of the Federation.

It is pertinent to add that, provision of formal Education together with the required infrastructural facilities for its functional running, is not in the exclusive list of Government responsibilities.

Private participation by philanthropic individuals adds a wider spectrum to the Educational system in Nigeria.

Moslem Grammar School, Odinjo, Ibadan, in the South West of Nigeria, is such a school. It was founded by a Philanthropist, Late Toheeb Kosemani Animasahun, on 17 January 1969.

The objective was to cater for the Educational needs of underprivileged children in our society. Located at Kilometer 4, along Ibadan-Lagos Expressway, the School was funded solely by its founding Proprietor until some years ago when it became a public school following the death of the founder. The School has since been in need of financial assistance.

The financial need of the School for sometime now has been quite substantial. This is now made worse by the destructive effects of a recent windstorm which blew off the roof-tops of many Classroom Blocks.

In the aftermath, a good percentage of almost 5,000 students population have no roofs over their classrooms where they receive their lessons.

In the light of this unconducive atmosphere for learning, a fund raising request towards assisting the School in the urgent repairs needed on the roofs is hereby formally announced.

The immediate community is greatly saddened by the state of the Classrooms. The School, which has brought light to their community, is here lying in ruins.

Government subventions to schools is on a paltry level. The Old students, the communities, individuals and voluntary organizations support schools in Nigeria. The children whose lives are being moulded are eternally grateful to all.

We appeal to all kind-hearted people and organizations all over the world on this noble cause of supporting Moslem Grammar School, Odinjo, Ibadan, Nigeria, not only for the restoration of the roof-tops but also the upgrading of the infrastructural facilities of the School.

Let's show the students that some people care about their future.
