Hello! I am a teacher who has lived with Myasthenia Gravis for most of my life. MG is an auto-immune
disorder that weakens muscles upon exercise. Over the years, I have learned to manage this disease, learning how to keep myself healthy through diet, appropriate exercise, and spirituality. Now I am facing a major health challenge. As I have aged, I have developed Spinal Stenosis and Degenerative Disc Disease. I have managed to cope with these diseases with conventional
medical practices: medicines, chiropractic, physical therapy, and most recently, cortisone shots and epidurals. These methods no longer work. I would be a candidate for spinal surgery if it were not for the Myasthenia Gravis that causes serious problems with anesthesia. I have learned that the MG causes general anesthesia to weaken my lungs and make it very difficult to breath on my own. This type of spinal surgery weakens other discs, which requires more surgery as these spinal diseases progress. I am presently in constant pain that interrupts sleep. I have turned to Go Fund Me as a means to take another avenue that is much safer and more permanant, Stem Cell Therapy. I have researched this option extensively, attended seminars, and I have been examined be doctors. This procedure requires no anesthesia, no pain meds, and no stay in the hospital. I will receive donor stem cells from living donors, NOT aborted fetuses, which is illegal in my state. I will need shots in the affected areas and 8 weeks (3 times per week) of physical therapy. The total cost is $14,640. I have never used Go Fund Me, but at the urging of a friend, I am willing to do whatever it takes to make the remainder of my life healthier and free of invasive medical procedures.
