Funds for Feenstra

Gordon Feenstra was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the end of August 2017. A healthy and active young man with deeply ingrained kindness, this was unexpected and shocking. Gord shared that the Leukemia spread quickly from his bone marrow into his blood, causing him joint pain. Luckily the doctors found out what was going on and Gord started chemotherapy August 31st . After 3 weeks in Vancouver General Hospital, Gord is happy to report that he has been released from the hospital and is now an outpatient. Unfortunately, as an outpatient Gord needs to stay close to Vancouver General Hospital and will be unable to travel home to the Sunshine Coast for quite some time. The Doctors tell him that the treatment for this takes approximately one year as an outpatient and this is why we are asking for your help.

"I am unfortunately unable to work or care for my family during this time. My wife, Allison, as well as many of our amazing friends and family have stepped up to the plate in more ways than I can thank them all for already! But, I don't have an extended medical plan. Allison has been working less in order to take care of Zoe and visit me when she can. The prescription drugs that I need to take as part of my treatment are very expensive and, given the long road ahead, are expected to cost many thousands of dollars. Combined with our lost wages and frequent ferry travel to visit me in Vancouver, even the first month has proven to be very costly."
