Make history by supporting our Music Educators Float for the 2019 Rose Parade® in honor of all music educators around the world! We need your help! The 2019 Rose Parade theme is The Melody of Life. Our float is inspired by Pickerington Music Educator Michael Sewell and our float will salute music educators who dare to dream big like Mike Sewell. Mike was a music educator in Ohio for 38+ years and took his Pickerington Tigers to the Rose Parade four times in his career! Both Pickerington bands have been invited to march in the 2019 parade! Our goal is to have a float with the combined Pickerington Central & North Bands leading it down Colorado Blvd in 2019.
What better way to say thank you and bring attention to the importance of music in our lives than to salute all music educators on January 1st in the 130th Rose Parade?
WE HAVE RECEIVED OUR OFFICIAL INVITATION TO HAVE A FLOAT IN THE PARADE!!!!!
WE HAVE DEPOSIT DEADLINES THAT MUST BE MET BY JUNE 1ST, 2018.

3. Share that you donated and encourage people to donate in honor of ANY music educator who made a difference in their lives! This float is for ALL amazing music teachers !

HERE'S THE STORY OF HOW OUR VISION BEGAN:
Mike passed away unexpectedly in April 2017 and his family has established a Foundation that supports the Arts in his memory. In fact, just 2 weeks after his passing, a vision was crafted and shared with Tournament of Roses officials. There are four essential parts to our "dream" - 1. Begin a Foundation in Mike's memory to support the Arts in and around Pickerington 2. Establish an award with The Tournament of Roses to continue Mike's legacy of Service Through Music to recognize Rose Parade bands each year 3. Submit a Float for the 2019 Rose Parade to kick off the Foundation Award, and salute ALL music educators who have high goals for their students AND 4. Reach out to the Pickerington Central & North band directors to quickly put together an application to have the COMBINED bands march in the 2019 Rose Parade in front of the float!
All of our objectives have been met!
The 2019 Rose Parade theme has just been announced...The Melody of Life. It will celebrate music, the universal language. What a perfect fit for a float honoring music educators and our hometown melody maker!
Mike represents every music educator who has left a thumbprint on students' lives. 4,300 people attended his Memorial Service, while 1,200+ watched a live stream broadcast.

If in the event the float amount is not raised, the funds raised will be utilized by The Michael D Sewell Memorial Foundation to support the Fine Arts and assist the combined Pickerington Bands trip to Pasadena.
