Fund the Fight for Anna Irwin

This is Anna's story:

In April 2016 Anna was diagnosed with Stage 4 incurable lung cancer (primary enteric adenocarcinoma) and her whole world was turned upside down. Many people would struggle to comprehend such catastrophic news, but not Anna; it was an opportunity. An opportunity to make a difference, to do everything she could to fight for her life but also to raise as much as she possibly could to help other people in a situations similar to her. The doctors said there was a 5% chance she would live more than 5 years, but for Anna, that did not matter, “I am a fighter” she said, “I refuse to give up”.

The treatment plans were intense; she went through chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation as well as many alternative treatments. Brutal for anyone, but this was Anna, and unsurprisingly she completely amazed all her family and friends, taking it all in her stride with a big beaming smile on her face. As Anna became sicker, her determination didn’t falter, she was even more committed to doing more to help people fighting such a terrible disease.

In October 2017, Anna sadly lost her personal battle but ‘Fund the Fight will continue to keep her legacy alive.

Anna’s fundraising mission was to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust and the Royal Marsden (as well as her own personal cancer fight), and having raised close to £100,000 many people have benefitted from her efforts.

In her last few months that focus shifted as she spent more and more time at her local hospice, St Michael’s Hospice (North Hampshire).  Here she saw first-hand just how much the hospice (especially the amazing staff) do not only for their patients, but their family and friends during what can be a very difficult time. Now, since Anna has passed we will continue to follow in her footsteps, raising money for the hospice so they can continue to help many many for years to come.

So here's where you come in...

...you can get involved with Anna’s family and friends in the on-going fundraising for St Michael’s Hospice (North Hampshire), or do some fundraising of your own. This new ‘Go Fund Me’ page is linked directly to St Michael’s Hospice, and will benefit from Gift Aid with each donation that is made. Simply click 'Donate Now'.

St. Michael’s Hospice (North Hampshire) enables anyone faced with a life-limiting illness, their families and carers, to attain the highest possible quality of life by providing a choice of specialist care and support.
