MY MS JOURNEY TO REMISSION / 2024
Assalamu ‘alaikum and Greeting to All:
My name is Tajikah U. Diaz Abdul-Karim, and I’m appealing to you in reference to one of the many challenges that I’m experiencing. I’m presently thirty-four years old, and I’m a mother of three young daughters; I’m also a single mom.
A few years ago, I began experiencing some unexpected effects of a condition that was unusual and debilitating. This condition came off and on, with bouts of dizziness, vertigo, blurred vision, and sometimes loss of balance, manual dexterity, and ambulatory agility.
- In short, I sought medical consultation, and I was initially diagnosed with the onset of Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (commonly called RRMS, and it’s a disease or condition that effects the nervous and auto immune system). Although at first, the condition wasn’t as severe, a follow-up examination revealed brain lesions that are common in this disease, including the fact that I was later diagnosed with Progressive MS. In short, MS attacks the myelin sheath of the nerves, which is a covering that naturally protects the nerves or neural fibers of the body. This results in tremors, shaking, and involuntary jerks etc.
- In the above case, the condition can worsen as it progresses, making it difficult to function at an optimum level in engaging regular tasks like dressing myself, operating appliances, preparing my own meals, speaking (at times), walking, attempting to do daily chores, and especially caring for my children etc. The condition is debilitating and also causes fatigue as well. I’ve had to learn to cope with the destabilizing stress that my condition causes.
- In summary, I’m under care with help from my immediate family, and I’m also in the initial professional medical treatment, and therapy for my condition. I am pursuing further help with this condition through integrative medicine. The regimen of my treatment can bring about an effective cure according to the diagnosis and prognosis of my treatment.
- I’m seeking assistance with the cost of the medical expenses, and hope to raise approximately $7,500, so I can reach my goal. Some of my family members continue to assist me in this endeavor, and I have also applied for some available financial support, to meet the initial costs or fees. These funds will also help me with the necessary provisions of caring for my immediate family, and other expenses outside of any supplement I receive for disability, or other social services assistance.
Your caring, understanding, compassion, and cooperation is highly appreciated, in helping me to attain my goal in this life-changing situation. I pray that Allah is Merciful to you (and your family members), and that He Grants you relief from any challenges or struggles you may be facing.
