Fund scholarships to train new women & nb speakers

Donation protected
Women Talk Design is on a mission to see a more diverse group of speakers on stage.

We elevate women and nonbinary speakers through our directory, work with event organizers on how they can design more inclusive events, and offer events, training, and community to (new) speakers.

One of our core programs is a 12-hour speaking workshop to help women and nonbinary creatives become more confident public speakers. While all of our community workshops are subsidized through our corporate trainings, we strive to offer a handful of scholarships each cohort so folks who may be unemployed, in school, or unable to be reimbursed by their employer and cannot pay out of pocket can still attend.

Sponsor a scholarship!

In 2020, we are hosting six speaking workshops in San Francisco and New York. Our goal is to offer at least 2 full scholarships to each of these workshops.

Community Workshop attendance = $400
12 scholarships in 2020 = $4,800

Sponsor a full workshop scholarship, half of a scholarship or whatever you'd like to give!

Help us elevate the voices of women and nonbinary folks by giving them access to training to become more confident public speakers!

Here's what past participants have said about their experience in the workshop.

"This workshop has gotten me exponentially closer to a goal I have had for nearly a decade. I can't believe I am walking away with a solid concept, outline, headshot and new community of support. Thanks"

"I didn't think writing a compelling talk in 2 days would be possible, yet WTD helped me not only do that, but also helped me build the confidence to present it."

"Such an amazing experience that allowed me to feel vulnerable and safe...which in turn helped me build my confidence, strategize my talk and extend my network to other like-minded women within the tech field"

"Women Talk Design’s weekend workshop was the single most helpful resource for getting my speaking career off the ground! It was an action-packed weekend of intense but fun training, in a very positive and supportive environment."

About the workshop:

"Present Yourself: Craft Your First Talk and Deliver with Confidence"

In this workshop, we’ll provide new speakers with the framework and confidence to begin crafting their first talk. Learn where to start, understand why storytelling is important and how to use it in any presentation, and begin drafting an outline for a short talk. You'll have a chance to work on a talk in a safe, supportive environment and get feedback on your ideas along the way. Get practice delivering your talk and learn how to present with confidence.

You will leave the workshop with:

> A framework for crafting a compelling talk
> An understanding of the elements of storytelling
> A draft of a 5 min talk and resources on how to expand it depending on length of talk
> Tips for feeling confident on stage
> A video recording of your talk
> A new supportive network
> Resources for continued reading and exploration

We offer two types of cohorts: a 2-day immersive or 4 weeknight evening workshop.

We're crowdfunding scholarships because we want YOU to be able to have an impact. Women Talk Design transformed from a speaker directory to an organization with a larger mission to see a more diverse group of speakers on stage with the help of Christina Wodkte's 2017 GoFundMe campaign. Over 150 individuals contributed to the future of Women Talk Design.
