Please, help Sasha Yonyak to go to Ireland to connect with the new friends Rita Simmonds and Ciaran Marron in their incredible lifetime story.
Hi, My name is Volodymyr(Vlad) Yonyak, and I am Sasha’s Yonyak dad. I am organizing this fundraising to benefit my son Sasha Yonyak and in memory of his sincere friendship with Mr. Wane Smith. Many people probably already heard the story about “Maryland Boy's Message in a Bottle that traveled over 3000 miles that was discovered in Ireland After 3 Years”.
This story starts in 2019, when Sasha Yonyak while visiting his best friend Wane Smith in Fish Tail Marina(Ocean City, MD), found a bottle in the water with $2 bills and a message. The message was from two ladies and requested whoever is going to find a bottle “to pass it on.” Sasha wrote a letter describing his hobbies and the good time he was having with Mr. Wane, Wane’s wife Liza, and their dog Stoney. The bottle was placed in water one mile off the shore in Ocean City(MD) on Sasha’s and Wane's next fishing trip. Surprisingly, the bottle was discovered 3 years later by Rita Simmonds and Ciaran Marron, a couple that was waking on the beach in Donegal, Northern Ireland. It took 3 years and 3000 miles over the Atlantic Ocean for the bottle to travel from Ocean City(MD) to Donegal(Ireland).
Sasha is 14 years old now, and unfortunately, his beloved neighbor and friend, Mr. Wane Smith, died last year at the age of 64, never finding out what became of their bottle. Sasha is thrilled to go to Ireland now to meet his new friends and tell them his lifetime story.
