Fund POC Artists - Lift Me Up Annual Benefit!

Donation protected
Hi friends!

We are TWO weeks away from our 3rd annual Lift Me Up Benefit Show, a music and poetry event where our mission is to raise money for two POC artists in our community!

Last year, we raised $830 for the beneficiaries and we hope that this year, 2019, will be the year we raise $1,000!

In an effort to kick off Lift Me Up 3, we're doing something that we've never done before, and that is raising $300 EACH WEEK until the event. That means $600! We can do it!

With each $10 you donate, you will receive 1 ticket to the event! $15 for 2 tickets!

Let's do this! We can beat last year's amount and show love and support to the artists, Jervae and Pastelle Bonito, before going to the event. Bringing a little peace of mind to all before the day we celebrate: Sunday, September 15th 2-6pm at La Galeria Michel in Barrio Logan.

Myself, Karina Frost, KC Dilla, and Q Ortiz thank you for participating in this event to build community and financially support each other. Each dollar will not go to waste if it goes to creativity, community building, and people of color.

Lift Me Up Statement

Lift Me Up seeks to bring together a community of artists and musicians who are working together to combat white supremacy and an inequitable capitalist society. The mission of Lift Me Up is to raise money for two POC artists (with a focus on queer artists). This is the chance to donate directly to your community and support artists who are systematically affected by both the devaluation of the arts and a devaluation of communities of color.

It’s our time to lift them up and send them home with a CHECK. Whether it’s for a large canvas, living expenses, a used car, a new piece of music equipment, our friends need our help. Artists are constantly being told to produce work for little to no compensation, instead, only for “exposure”. You cannot eat and survive with “exposure” and society cannot exist without the arts.

Lift Me Up exists at a time when creativity, free thinking, and unity are threatened and treated like dissent, especially for artists of color. We need each other to survive, we all need to be lifted up and given hope. For us, hope is not just well wishes and exposure, hope is money ($$).

With your help, our efforts will fund some of the most ingenious artists of this generation and uplift a community that is commonly overlooked and systematically marginalized, financially, despite artistic genius. We want to flip the script, we want to change the entire economic system for these brilliant folks!
