Fund Our Farm- Galápagos Spring

Donation protected

Galápagos Spring is the dream project of my husband, Johan, and his farm in the highlands of San Cristobal Island. Before the pandemic, we began making big investments into the farm to accomplish our dreams of being a self-sustainable EcoFarm in the Galápagos Islands. We dreamed of building multiple cabins to host tourists and volunteers, create a permaculture-based food forest, and start a few one-of-a-kind projects on our land. One of those projects was to farm a native crawfish species, in hopes of providing a new and unique dish to the Galápagos Islands and simultaneously protecting the species that is only found in one part of one island in the Galápagos. By August of 2019 we had our ponds full of baby crawfish and we were beginning to design an aquaponics system for water filtration and nutrient recycling, but there were still a few critical missing components. So Johan was working as a naturalist guide to continue funding this project that had become our favorite thing to dream about. And in March 2020 he lost his job as a guide, and this project ultimately lost its funding. We are hoping that with a small investment we can dig more ponds, build adequate crawfish traps, buy solar panel water pumps, and put up a greenhouse to complete our unfinished aquaponics system.

We appreciate any donation you can afford to make and hope that you can one day experience the magic of Galápagos Spring firsthand. To follow along with the project please like us on facebook or follow us on Instagram.
