Fund our extracurricular Historical Combat School

Hi, My name is Josh, and I am an Instructor at UTC Plymouth's Historical Combat School. Tristan (my fellow instructor) and I have, since last year, been running an extracurricular club for our students where they can learn all about HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts). We are running a curriculum that currently covers the art of the german long sword, as taught by the medieval and renaissance fencing masters.

We are planning to expand our curriculum this year to many different Historical martial arts and require funding to purchase protective fencing equipment and practice weapons.

Our club instills in our students the principles of UTCness, Dedication, resilience, discipline, and respect. We have provided an inclusive club to enable all members from Ks3 and Ks4 to improve their fitness, hand-to-eye coordination, reflexes and general physical skills. Teamwork, group learning and teaching are also essential aspects of the club, wherein students learn with and from each other, nurturing each other's progress. Most importantly, we help increase our student's confidence, giving them an outlet for their creativity and individuality.

We aim to teach our students to be better fencers, team players, better people and productive, positive members of society.
