<div>Hi, my name is Allison. I feel a mix of emotions that I find myself writing to you in such an informal way. I feel shy and embarrassed when it comes to asking for help, but sometimes, you are dealt a hand that gives you no options for the best possible outcome. For me, the hand is a stage 4 breast Cancer diagnosis. This means it's terminal and it has spread to my bones, primarily my spine, left ribs, left pelvis and sternum.

<div>I am a single mother of two children, ages 13 and 16, who are the light of my life. It's odd how, even when facing death, you think only of the well-being of your children. Will they be okay? How do I tell them, will they get it, what will they do, and how will it affect them? The list never ends; it can be all-consuming and keep you in a paralyzing fear.

<div>I want to be here for them. I want to go for walks and travel with them. I want to hug them and see them grow into the amazing people they already demonstrate themselves to be! Regardless of age, I want to whisper "I LOVE YOU!" in their ears, just like any parent. I want to be there and celebrate all the moments and life achievements with them.

<div><strong>My diagnoses:</strong>

<div>I discovered I had Cancer from a disk herniation and back fracture in Jan 2023. I was rushed to the ER, only to find out the CT, bone scans, MRI, and other tests showed Cancer. I was in shock and disbelief but oddly slightly relieved, finally knowing what was causing all the pain and discomfort I had for the past six months. I had been working with my physio doctor and had been to the emergency department at least once before, but all the tests were coming up negative for the most common causes. I suppose they don't think an otherwise healthy youngish woman would have Cancer.

<div>Anyone who knows me knows I'm a nerd for the details. So after the shock, I started researching as much as possible about my Cancer, treatments and the way the system works. The first thing I learned was that my Oncologist (not unlike most) doesn't have time or the desire to read a study unless it's a <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3505292/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study</a>. My Oncologist has almost 700 active patients, so I don't blame him for not having time to look at other valuable sources of information. And for the most part, he can't deviate from what the college, the government or the system has defined as the "Standard of Care." As much as I want to accept the minimum care, I can't pretend they aren't missing a whole category of information that can't be done in a "double-blind placebo-controlled" study. Diet and lifestyle, for example.

<div><strong>What this means for me:</strong>
</div>
<div>If I want to fill the gaps in the system and my care then the burden lies with me. The palliative care treatments at the Cancer Clinic are based on the well-known theory of Cancer called the Somatic Mutation Theory (SMT), we just don't typically think about it being a "theory". However, there is another theory called the Mitochondrial Metabolic Theory (MMT) and it has shown significant efficacy in laboratory, animal studies and many people around the world. You might ask why something that is so effective isn't embraced by the mainstream and for the most part it's because it's entrenched in politics and the mind-blowing BS that comes with it.

<div>Anyway, MMT isn't covered by insurance due to its current status as outside mainstream medical acceptance. This places the entire financial burden on me. To learn more about the protocol I am on and more about Mitochondrial Metabolic Theory please check out my website.
