On Christmas Day, 2017, a rare and beautiful person was taken from us suddenly. West was one of the kindest, most creative, and tragic people I have ever known. As evidenced by a wide array of friends and relationships, West made an impact on everyone he met. Some of the best stories of my youth have him at the very center. West was a musician, an artist, a writer. A man of fine intelligence and under-recognized abilities. And with a biting humor that often belied his tender heart and generous nature. He was delightfully bizarre and, hyperbole-be-damned, a bit of a genius.
West struggled most of his life with finding his place in the world and, especially considering the abrupt manner of his passing, his family will now have to settle his finances while trying to come to terms with their loss.
Please consider donating whatever you can to help his family in their time of grief. West often spoke of Eryn and John, his niece Briana; he loved his family very much and I know he would be glad to see his friends reaching out to help them.
