Hello all!
If we haven’t met yet, my name is Sojourner McClure. I am 20 years old and pursuing my dream of a professional career in classical music at the Peabody Conservatory of Music of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. I have been playing the guitar for twelve years, and have dedicated more than half of my life to my love of music. Two years ago, I accepted my admissions offer from Peabody knowing that I was taking an incredibly important step in advancing my musical career; but what I could never have anticipated was the countless and invaluable skills and relationships I have fostered while here. What I also couldn’t anticipate is the sheer financial burden of a $40,000+ tuition bill (...I’m taking the “starving college student” colloquialism to a whole new level). Right now, my future at Peabody is in a dangerous position, and I need your help.
My family, in recent months, has suffered a series of events that have left them struggling to pay off my debt to Peabody from last semester. If I can’t pay Peabody before August 6th, only a few short days from now, then I will lose the opportunity to stay in my degree program. Whether it is $1 or $1,000, I appreciate any financial support that you, friends, family, teachers, supporters, and strangers alike, can afford me.
I’m a hard-working and committed student, and all I want is to go back to school in the fall and continue the work that I’ve started. There is so much opportunity for me at Peabody, and I am asking you, humbly and with my whole heart, to help me out of this struggle.
