On this day, our Grandfather param Guru Babaji Anil Ram will host approximately 2,000 people at Sri Aghor Baba Hari Ram Samadhi and Temple in India. These pilgrims will come take prasad and join in on the Bhandara Festival (Somvati Utsav), the Festival of Turmeric, as well as Makar Sankranti (the arrival of longer days in the month of Magha).
During the celebration of Bhandara, devotees use the golden powder to worship the deity Lord Khandoba; they will do this to honor the descent of the solar deity, and to celebrate his victory over the demons Mani and Malla.
Makar Sankranti festival signifies a healthy bond that is shared between a father and a son. It is celebrated as a conscious of the triumph of Lord Vishnu over Asuras. In the state of Uttar Pradesh, Makar Sankranti is mainly the festival of gift-giving in the form of donation.
On this auspicious day people express gratitude to the Sun God Surya and thank nature for its abundant resources. In most parts of the country, people, take a holy dip in rivers like Ganga, Yamuna, Godavari, Krishna, and Cauvery. It is believed that doing so, washes away all the sins.
Apart from it, Makar Sankranti is also considered a time of peace and prosperity marking the start of new life. It is a day of cleaning and cleansing and old clothes are thrown away, also considered a time of good fortune, and important events are scheduled during this period.
The 14th of January is also a very auspicious day as this is the anniversary day our beloved Aghoracharya Vishnuswami Totagopinathdas Suryasu Ram received his diksha initiation.
As a small gesture of our appreciation along with direct blessings and contributions as a family, we are asking for support in donations to provide accommodations for those who will be attending and an offering from our heart that shows how honored and blessed we are to be under the shelter of our Guru And Parampara .
Jai Sri Aghora Vaishnava Sampradaya!
