I would like to raise money for a new family car. We need one not only so Dad can go to work but also so we can attend appointments for things like speech therapy and cardiac checkups our youngest son needs. Since he was born with a severe life threatening congenital heart defect we have relied even more so on our car. Not only for the necessities such as appointments but also to ensure our older two children can gain their happy childhood back because they had to cope with the sudden separation of their primary caregiver (me, their mum) for two months, while their new born little brother fought for his life through 2 open heart surgeries at only a few weeks old. While dad was able to stay with them the whole ordeal took a heavy psychological toll including ptsd on all of us but especially our then 3 year old who after 5 years still shows signs that he struggles.
It also left physical marks - not only the numerous scars on our youngest son's body from the surgery but it also triggered a chronic pain condition in dad which has left him incapable of clear thought on his worst days. We don't claim pip for him and he works 4 days a week as a delivery driver. He cannot work more due to the severe pain caused by too much activity. For years he supported us through his self employed plumbing business but his body couldn't keep up so he had to change jobs. It supports us but leaves little room for bug extras. The car we have served us for 8 long years. Driving us over 2 and a half hours from our home down to glenfield hospital in Leicester where our son had his operations. It made the journey to see the children's grandma who lives in Austria several times as going there is always the best therapy for all the children. Especially for our asthmatic 11 year old who's asthma dramatically improves when we have been away.
We need a car because the children come first and their happiness is so important to us. Whether it is driving to meet their friends or to educational activities, whether it is to appointments or to the beach to see the sunset, whether it is to be able to do the shopping or to see Oma in Austria, we do it all with the children in mind. We are desperately stuck without a car and like so many others barely scrape by. Now the car won't lock, or unlock, it has an electrical fault but the diagnostics computer won't talk to it because of it. It needs work on the engine and new tires and we dread to hear what else they will find.
We need a car with 5 full seats to accommodate 3 car seats. Safety is of utmost importance so we need a safe car.
If you can spare a pound or two it will help us towards our bigger goal. I would love nothing more than to take the stress away from my husband and the best dad a family could have and to be able to say don't worry, we have the money.
Stress makes his fibromyalgia and cluster headaches worse and he suffers through them uncomplainingly.
Please give just a little,
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
