Keep Fullasoul Radio on the air 24/7!

As some of you may know, Fullasoul Radio recently experienced an outage spanning nearly 3 days as a result of an ice storm that ravaged the Carolina coast. The entire region was left without power or internet...two things that are vital to the operation of any internet radio station. We've taken great pride in the fact that we've been on the air continuously since our launch in October of 2011. Even during our relocation from Ohio last year, we managed to keep your favorite jams streaming over the interwebs with a very minimal break in service. Fullasoul Radio has become one of the most popular independently operated Urban AC stations for internet radio listeners the world over...and as such, we've come to realize that steps need to be taken so that we can prevent any such future problems from disrupting the service we so proudly offer you, our listeners.

With that in mind, we're embarking on a mission to raise the funds needed so that we may secure the necessary upgrades that would keep Fullasoul Radio "on the air" in the event of a future power or internet outage. We've put together a strategy that involves purchasing just enough hardware to push us through any future short-term outages. With your generous donation, we'll be able to secure the components needed to put this backup strategy into place and ensure that we'll never again find ourselves unable to serve our listeners the unique mix of soul, funk and R&B music Fullasoul Radio listeners have come to love.

In a time when conventional radio is offering a very stale and limited lineup of music, we think you'll agree that independently operated stations like Fullasoul Radio are playing an integral part in keeping REAL R&B music alive and well. We hope you'll consider helping us!

FINANCIAL BREAKDOWN:

Now, this'll take some bargain-hunting on our part...but here's how we plan to allot the $1000 in order to keep us up and running through any future incidents:

$500ish - A backup generator that will provide us enough electricity to push us through any extended power outages. Since a generator that stores power taken from the property's electrical system would not store enough power for any extended outage (one that COULD would be FAR out of this price range!), and solar would let us down if the outage was weather-related, a gas-powered generator seems the best way to go. It won't kick in automatically (which we address with the following piece of equipment), but it could withstand outages that go beyond a few hours (even days!)

$300ish - An upgraded UPC backup that will kick in immediately when power goes out, and will keep us running long enough to determine whether or not we'll need to start the backup generator.

$150ish - An updated router that will allow us to install a secondary internet source. Where most of our home routers take one source of internet service, these routers can take a SECOND source that essentially sits dormant until there's a break in service from the first source. At that point, the router instantly "switches" to the secondary internet source to keep things streaming smoothly.

$50ish - The secondary internet device. This will be a phone or mobile hotspot device that will be activated for mobile data service and only used during which times the primary internet service goes down (obviously we will foot the bill for the monthly service ourselves).

And that's it!
