Meghan McNeeley received a Fulbright Distinguished Award in Teaching, but she needs funding for family and finances!

Hello, one & all, and thank you for stopping by!  I am sharing with you today one of my proudest moments as a teacher and Holocaust educator.  To be honest, I'm still a little shocked at all of this, but I am a FULBRIGHT!!!  For those of you who are not 100% sure what a "Fulbright" is, that's okay!  I wasn't sure myself, at first.  Here's some information from Wikipedia (don't judge):

"The Fulbright Program ... is a program of highly competitive, merit-based grants for international educational exchange....  The Fulbright Program is one of the most prestigious awards programs worldwide, operating in over 155 countries.  Fifty-three Fulbright alumni have won Nobel Prizes; seventy-eight have won Pulitzer Prizes.  More Nobel laureates are former Fulbright recipients than any other award program."

I received a specific type of Fulbright, the Distinguished Award in Teaching, one of only 43 in the nation!  (What?!????!!!)  For the last eight years, I have spent a tremendous amount of time and effort studying and teaching the Holocaust.  I am a Museum Teacher Fellow for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, and a member of their elite teacher cadre, the Regional Education Corps.  I have received other awards & recognitions for my efforts in Holocaust education, but I don't want this to be all about me.

This is about my family.

The Fulbright DAT is generously allowing me to spend a semester in England to conduct research on my Capstone project proposal:  "The Woman's Holocaust: The Roles & Regulations, Rape & Resistance."  Though the Fulbright funds all my living expenses while abroad, it does not provide for my family, husband Travis & daughter Ayden.  As a further complication, I was granted leave WITHOUT PAY from Clarke County School District.  :(

Without Ayden and Travis with me in England, the experience - living, studying, traveling - would be unimaginable.  So here's the bottom line...  We need your help!  England is really expensive (especially if we're in London!), the dollar isn't going very far, and our financial responsibilities in Georgia remain.  We're trying to sell our house (wanna buy a house???!!), and that will help, but just like many of you, our other bills are still there.

Please give.  Any amount.  Any will do.

Though gratitude seems a paltry thing for what we're asking , we would be eternally grateful and appreciative.

Thank you so, so much!  Cheerio!
